When I first got a new, up-to- date computer, I was having problems. My friend told me to call the Geek Squad to help me get it set up and figure out how to operate it. In a few visits, I was able to figure out most of the things I needed to operate it. The Geek Squad is a great investment, especially for people who have limited technological skills. It has saved me money and alieviated a lot of stress of trying to figure out how to operate different software to get various projects done. Now, I rarely have to write anything by hand. If you can't take your computer in for a problem, they will even talk you through how to do certain tasks via telephone. They will also come to your home to fix some problems that you are having.

I’ve never been so physically angry at a company or at an employee. One Friday afternoon, between going to from one job to another, I wanted to drop off my laptop. I have had this laptop for two years, never had any real issues with it. I wanted to bring it in to get a tune up to clean out all the build of temp files. I made the appointment, arrived on time. I explain to the Agent what I am wanting. She tells me about the Geek Squad warranty that will cover everything. She clicks around my computer, not telling me anything. I tell her that I won’t be getting the warranty but would still like the tune up. She says she can’t do that and hands my computer back to me. This is frustrating. I had chatted to an Agent online about getting the tune up and was never told that I had to buy the warranty. So with the few moments that I have left before I had to get to my job, I called Geek Squad customer service. I explained the situation to them. And they said while they do encourage customer to get the warranty it is not required for a one time service, and that I should have not been turned away for wanting a one-time service. I thanked the agent for time. I scheduled for another appointment on Saturday (my first Saturday that I’ve had not to work so wasn’t really looking forward to going back to Best Buy to talk to another Agent) I had explained to this Agent about what happened the day before and how I really didn’t want to be coming back in here to just get a tune up. This Agent was very helpful and apologized for the day before. He took my laptop, told me he was just going to do a quick check of my systems. He even told me I had a couple virus, which the previous Agent had not told me! He then explain that while a tune up will clean up my computer it won’t get rid of the viruses. And that it would cost me the same price for the tune up and to get rid of the viruses as the one year warranty. While I appreciated his honesty and showing me options, I just need the one time service. I’ve had this laptop for two years, and this was the first time I have taken it in. When I got the first call that my laptop was fixed, was Sunday afternoon. This was great to hear that it had taken about 24 hours to get my laptop all set up. I wasn’t able to pick it up due to work until Tuesday. I made my appointment and got there on time. I wasn’t upset that I had to wait 15 minutes for an Agent to be able to help me. I got upset when the Agent helping me was the one I had went to first on Friday. I asked her why she wouldn’t let me do the one time service fee when I first came in here. She then went to say that I shouldn’t have paid for the one time service and belittle me. Basically making me feel like I was stupid. She then handed me laptop without going over any of the services that were performed on my laptop and told me to have a nice day. I work in retail and I know about wanting customers to come back so that we can build a good customer service. I was going to buy RAM for my laptop last night. I was so upset with that Agent that I will not being going to that store ever again. This one is the closest to my home and it is where I bought my laptop from. But after having to deal with the same rude Agent twice, I rather drive to Brookfield or Fox Point than to go back there. I will say that the Agent I helped me on Saturday was very nice and understanding. And now two months later after, I have moved out of state, my laptop has pretty much stopped working. I didn’t have much time once I got my laptop back to sit down with it, I was getting ready to move and most of my time was spent packing. My computer will freeze up and I won’t be able to do anything. Being far away from family and friends, my laptop is supposed to be my way of communicating with them. Now I can’t even do that. I will never be returning to that store again!
