Business Overview
Geek Squad is a repair service that had mixed customer reviews. The business seems to handle the whole spectrum of computer repair from basic to complex, however, some customers did not have positive experiences. The business offers repairs, but the reviews suggest it can be unpredictable. If you plan to use the service, it may be a good idea to confirm your appointment and the expected work, and verify the costs for repair services.

Sent off my laptop for repairs 3 weeks ago, and so far all that they have done is increase the estimate price until I could not pay for it anymore. They broke the motherboard of my laptop and tried to make me pay an extra $500 for it. Customer service told me 3 days ago that I would not have to pay for it, but I was surprised to hear that I was responsible for this today. My estimate was more than the price of a brand new laptop. They are shipping my broken laptop back to me after wasting 3 weeks of my time. Do not expect this company to repair your electronics in a reasonable time or at a reasonable price.

Wonderful--top notch service and so friendly! I am not sure why there are negative reviews. Perhaps those folks showed up, unannounced and did not take the time to make an appointment or realize the world does not revolve around them. Maybe they did not explain their problem or what needed to be fixed well enough to the staff in the first place. I called ahead and made an appointment; I had 5 devices to get serviced. I showed up on time (they had a reservation for me) and took care of things in a fast, friendly manner. The repairs were spot on perfect too! There were people that showed up as walk ins while I was waiting for my repairs to complete. You can see the schedule board prominently that showed when the next available appointment would be and who was on the list. The walk ins were throwing a fit that they could not be seen immediately but the staff there remained polite and calm. Make an appointment and you'll be fine. Walk in and you're taking a risk of having to wait. Throw a fit, you will still be treated with respect; but those around you will realize you are a child.

I was having battery issues with my laptop and did not have the correct screwdriver to open up my laptop to access the battery at home, so I ask if he can reset my battery for me. In case you didn't know, resetting the battery is a very simple process that deals with unplugging the battery, holding down the power button for about 30 seconds, and plugging the battery back into the laptop. Instead of him doing this for me (which was done for free at a different geek squad), I am told I most likely have a charging port or motherboard problem that will take upwards to $700 to fix (I have no idea where he got that from). He then tries to persuade me to buy a $200 tech support plan, a new $1200 laptop to replace my old one, and suggested I get a $100 data transfer. I immediately go to Harbor Freight to buy a fancy screwdriver set for $6, reset my battery myself in 3 min, and it works just fine. Either they had no idea what was going on, or they were trying to scam me $1500. I am honestly bewildered and hope to God they didn't trick anyone else into paying ridiculous amounts of money for such a simple issue.

They lied. Plain and simple. The associate that helped and the GM. Both said after looking at the laptop that it was a motherboard or a battery issue and it would take a little over a week. Called today to say it was ready and went to pick it up. They didn’t even look at it. Wasted our time. Associate who set original promise went straight to the back and hid when he saw us coming. Save your time and go somewhere else.
