The only thing worse than incompetence is dishonest incompetence. My sister took her Chromebook into this location a month or so back because the machine wouldn’t boot. The Geek Squad (who I will now be referring to as the Lying Morons) told her that she needed a new motherboard. I know this to be their go-to answer for anything they can’t figure out. “It’s the motherboard, bruh. You need a new ‘MoBo’.” Lucky for my sister, she has a brother with a STEM degree and 15 years experience with computer hardware and software. I told her to leave the machine with me. Upon disassembly, I made a discovery: the cable ribbon, which connects the keyboard to the motherboard was torn. I’ve made this mistake in a past life, so I know how easily that can happen (which is why I was actually careful when lifting the keyboard up). My sister’s story started to make more sense. She had mentioned that the power indicating LED on the right side of the laptop illuminated before she took it in to be looked at by the Lying Morons. She also mentioned after she picked it up, “not even the light on the side works anymore”. Makes sense that if they tore the cable ribbon during disassembly that this LED may no longer get signal when the power button is pressed, since - y’know - the signal path had been borked at that point. Like I said, I understand how easy it is to make a mistake like this. But lying about it and just assuming the customer won’t bother to investigate further? That’s not a mistake. That’s just straight up dishonesty to try to keep from having to admit a blunder. Like when an idiot kid tries to hide a broken lamp. Moral of the story: If you take your laptop into the American Fork branch of the Lying Morons and they tell you that a new motherboard is needed, get a second opinion. Or just take it someplace else in the first place. Yeah. Do that one.

Paul and Joseph were super easy to work with and very helpful with my computer being repaired. They gave me lots of options and explained the benefit of each one, and they helped me find the right solution. I'll be coming here for a long time!

Don’t trust a single thing they tell you. We just took my husbands $1,500 gaming laptop in due to the screen not working and they said it was hopeless due to water damage. We then went to a PC Laptop store for a second opinion where they also opened it up and said the “water damage” Geek Squad saw was a lubricant the manufacturer puts inside and found and fixed the actual issue. Glad we found a store who knew what they were talking about.

I cannot give Geek Squad at this location a low enough rating. Their customer service is one of the worst I have ever seen. There is no understanding or talking with them to get assistance. Every time I have dealt with them, they don’t even know how to fix the issue. Never ever using them again.

I left my cell phone yesterday to change the screen and it came back worse than it was. My husband came into the store at the end of the day after the service ended, it seemed to be great two hours after the screen started to turn white and full of defects, the touch ID also no longer works. came back worse than I was, in addition to wasting my time in this place I do not indicate why they do bad service, I was upset and sad.
