Computer Medic

This guy Scott who works there (owner) is incredibly rude and has extremely poor customer service for his small business. I dropped my PC off because it wouldn’t boot, he told me it would be 24 hours before he could check it out - completely understood I dropped it off late it in the day. It ended up taking him more than a week to get back to me. Turns out it was the CPU, I asked him if I could come to pick it up and he was extremely rude and made it seem like he was doing me a favor for $100 diagnostic for the CPU (Geeksquad at BestBuy can do it quicker/faster be more professional). He pulled out my cpu and heat sync and never attached the heat sync pieces back to my motherboard and on top of that he claims to have “recycled” my faulty CPU (13700k). When I called him and asked about it he became extremely irate saying “I’ll see if I can find it” and hung up the phone on me. how do you recycle someone else’s property without their permission? It’s very upsetting and by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with a local small business in Austin. Be aware and cautious of this place. I’m an IT professional and was shocked by this experience. Be cautious and make sure you get your property back if you use this shop.

Scott and Alicia were amazing and I cannot recommend this company enough. My 1 year old spilled a bowl of soup (curry!) on my work laptop and so I went to Computer Medic to see if it could be saved. Scott did a diagnostic and contacted me to let me know that the cost to repair it would be more than buying a new one. They offered me one of their super nice refurbished computers for an amazing price and were able to transfer everything from my old laptop to the new one. They were honest, helpful and again the price was so amazing for the amount of work they did. I will definitely use them in the future!

Scott did a great job fixing my computer. He quoted me a price based on the cost of the new part, but he ended up finding me a cheaper part and charged way less than the quote. He was also able to fix the computer within a day of the part arriving, and was very understanding of the time crunch I was in. Really honest and friendly to do business with.

Owner was really nice over the phone and in store. Just needed a standoff and a screw, and he offered to give it to me for free but I refused. Informational and good service, not going anywhere else from now on.

I work in software/databases, so I am pretty familiar with the computers. However, I am not very knowledgeable or comfortable tearing my computer open to go through the hardware and try and swap pieces out. That being said, I had a serious framerate issue with my gaming desktop, and was doing troubleshooting on it for two weeks. I consulted Reddit, I wiped everything besides the BIOS, ran plenty of diagnostics, gave it a good dusting, but nothing fixed the issue. I finally decided to take it in and have someone look at the hardware, realizing most likely I had a busted chord or fan somewhere that would need to be replaced. I gave Scott a rundown, and he told me he would call me when he figured it out. He called me ten minutes later, so quickly I did not see the call until they had already closed. I then worked the rest of the week with Alicia who did all the replacements for my cooling system, graphics card and power core. Just got it home and have my computer running better than when I first bought it due to the new upgrades. I cannot recommend them enough, they are very knowledgeable and Alicia is a saint. They will figure out what is going on, and you hopefully won’t need to wait three weeks for an appointment like other stores I had consulted previously
