Business Overview
Geek Squad is a computer repair service, but the reviews indicate inconsistent customer satisfaction. This shop does not provide the quality of service one would expect from a technology company. Customers praise the knowledge of the more experienced employees but had bad experiences. Some people felt like there were forced to buy new replacements for their devices.

Terrible customer service. I put in a property damage claim for my insignia dryer that became possessed with a c9 code and flooded my laundry room and my mother's apartment. Geek squad came and took pictures, tells me they will get back to me in 5 days and I never hear from them. I call back 2 weeks later and they say the claim was denied. They did not feel the need to contact me to let me know it was denied. They tell me to contact my homeowners insurance for damage that their insignia dryer has done to my house and multiple other owners houses. Just complete denial of any responsibility.

The 1 Gentlemen was Extremely Smart & Very Knowledgeable. The first younger gentleman didn’t seem to know many answers. The more knowledgeable man even said to the younger man, “How did you get hired to work here?” lol Still, I was happy with the experience and I feel I was guided in the correct direction.

One star. If I could give less I would. My visit was a big hassle, even having an appointment, and besides that they didn’t even do level one troubleshooting. I was about to pay $450 for a replacement iphone and go without my phone for a week or so. I went home and my husband tried a soft reset and fixed the problem. Useless. I think they just want to sell you new stuff.

My laptop screen broke. I called Geek Squad, expecting the local branch but was routed to a call center instead. The rep was pleasant but her information was useless. I told her the exact make and model of my laptop to find out how much a screen repair would be and how long it would take. She had no idea but said she could arrange an appointment for me at the local branch so they could take a look at it. Fine. I went to the local branch first thing the next morning, only to find more pleasant people with more useless information. They said it probably would take 2-5 weeks because they would have to ship it out to Kentucky. They couldn't give me a quote either but said it MIGHT cost more than $300. He asked me how much I paid for the laptop and how old it was, implying that I'd be better off buying a new one. Mind you, I've replaced my screen in the past for $150 in two days, so to me this was just unacceptable. I don't blame the reps. I blame the people at the top who've consolidated Best Buy's repair service to one service center in Kentucky and have sacrificed quality customer service in favor of cost savings. But if your service is poorly rated how do you make a viable business out of Geek Squad??

Signing up with Geek Squad has been the best investment in myself! During a time of great difficulties and changes in life, the mounting stress has been overwhelming... not being very proficient in the technology and having difficulties in creating projects was causing me to feel depressed and unaccomplished. My heart-felt thanks go out to Joe Reynolds of Best Buys (Middletown, NY). This young man has literally changed my life! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and information. Thank you for your great customer care through your kindness and respect.
