i am not typically that type of person to complain, but my experience at this place a couple weeks was awful enough to warrant me warning others about taking your business to this shop. so i made a mistake and used a wet wipe to clean my Macbook keyboard, which broke it. i bring my laptop in to this place the next day, and i tell the guy at the front desk that some of the keys aren’t working and others are sticking or typing the wrong thing. i tell him that if he could just take a look at it and let me know what it would cost to fix it, that would be great. i ask him to be upfront about the price and he doesn’t mention any price for looking at it, so i assume it’s like a tire shop where they’ll appraise the issue for free. he says that he can do that for me and they’ll even clean my keyboard, it should take like one or two days to get back with me. they end up keeping it over the weekend. i dropped it off on thursday and they didn’t call me friday or monday. i have to call them on tuesday to see what the deal is. they end up telling me it’s gonna cost $325 for just the part, before labor or anything to install it. granted i know they can’t control the price tags, but that was just not in my budget to spend like $500 when i can just buy an Apple keyboard to plug into my Macbook for a fifth of the price. so i tell them i’ll figure something else out and i go to pick it up. these people. charged me. $65. to clean my keyboard and tell me, “yeah, it’s broken, sorry.” i’m obviously like, “uhhhh i wasn’t told there was a fee for cleaning it,” and the guy at the front was like “oh…yeah there is.” so i swallow the price, pay it, and take my laptop home. but get this, the ridiculous price wasn’t even the worst part. my keys on my laptop are now falling off. they literally broke my keyboard more by just CLEANING it. i don’t even want to know all of the issues that might’ve happened if i paid them to take it apart and install brand new hardware. i’m saying be wary of this place, i know they’ve been around a long time and have good reviews, but someone clearly did not know what they were doing when they worked with my laptop. and even if they didn’t try to, it’s frustrating that i asked up front what cost there might be, and they neglected to inform me that i would have to pay almost $70 for them just to make my computer problems worse.
