Business Overview

Geek Squad, the computer repair business, had mixed reviews. The experience from people on the phone has had a few negative interactions, and the speed of service is not ideal. However, service repairs will vary from user to user, with customer service being good or bad depending on the experience.

I was here years ago, but they broke my Xbox 360 open then claimed that I had disassembled it and that voids the warranty. At the time I was a teenager; my mother and I and my step father all stood there and WATCHED them break it open themselves as 3 of them were standing there behind the counter pulling on it. Needless to say we were pissed and they still honored the warrantyin the end anyways.

BROKE MY DEVICE AND WANT ME TO PAY FOR IT!!?? Worst service experience of my entire life. Geek squad refused to professionally diagnose and take in my hard drive for repair. Instead, they looked at it and told me the hard drive was fine and just the adapter was broken. I asked to buy one off of them, he claimed they don't sell power adapters. He told me incorrect information on how to "fix" my hard drive at home by using "any 12V power adapter". This information was WRONG. I followed his exact instructions and his advice fried my drive! I took it back to them and he said "ooo...now it's destroyed. You'll have to pay for data recovery." They quoted me $100-800 and then they call me back weeks later to tell me it will cost nearly $2,000! Trusting this horrible company was the worst decision of my life. If I took my drive to ANY other competitor, I would still have my data and it would have only cost for a diagnosis and a new adapter. Geek Squad refuses to take any responsibility for the damage that THEIR employees cause. I will never again set foot inside a Best Buy store in my life.

When asking questions the made it seem like I was a bother. Extremely rude customer service. While not having solutions to my problems, I mentioned I was going to try another store. Employees continued to bad mouth other electronics shops in the area. One of those shops fixed my issue within 24 hours at ha much more affordable price. Don't go here unless you want to feel like an inconvenience.

The girl working the counter had a terrible customer service attitude, and acted like all of my questions were a huge bother to her. Geek Squad had my computer for over 3 weeks and did not communicate to me what was going on (other than that it had arrived in a service center out of state). The girl at the store told me to call the 800 number. The representative at the 800 number told me to call the store. The store phone was blocked by a corporate message claiming the location was closed, even though it wasn't. My husband had to drive down to the location to ask what was going on. After more than 3 weeks, the computer was returned unrepaired. The only explanation was that they couldn't order the necessary parts. I asked for a more specific diagnosis and was told, "Your folder has a number you can call for more information." Thinking it was the number for the service center, I asked to be shown. The girl's rude, impatient response was, "It's this number in big writing." It was just the 800 number again. If you want lousy service and lots of bad attitude, I recommend Geek Squad. If you want your tech problems solved, I suggest you try elsewhere.

Welsh helped me with an issue yesterday and I am forever grateful. He ran a quick diagnostic check on my iPhone which helped me get a replacement from Apple stat. Thank you so much!
