Took PlayStation in for repair. Never received a call and no voicemail was left to state that a diagnostic was performed. When I called, they said I was unable to be reached and a voicemail was left. When I went into the store, the wrong console was brought out. When challenged, I was told it was mine before having to prove it was not my console. Employee realized mistake and went to get my console. When asked about diagnostic findings, I was told there was only the recommendation to replace disk drive with no details. Question was met with irritation. I stated I would take my business elsewhere.

I was there at 10a, I had my phone back by 11a (they actually had it done a little earlier). Experience was great. He checked if they had the parts in stock (glass cracked on a Pixel 5 with unresponsive interface) and gave me the price. Then, checked what it would cost to buy a refurbished Pixel 5 and advised it would be cheaper than the repair. He also looked up the resale cost of the Pixel 5 if I were to trade it in. Fantastic service and experience.

We brought in our son’s Nintendo switch and Noah was beyond helpful in fixing the controller! We will definitely be back if we need any electronics fixed!

We came into the shop for repairs for a first-generation 2017 Nintendo Switch with a damaged screen; there were several long straight cracks running the length of the screen and a starburst crack in the center. The Switch needed repair in the busy 2024 holiday season a few days before Christmas. We called in and were told that repairs might take a few days if parts needed to be ordered. As we anticipated holiday travel, we brought our device in right away. The storefront was very clean and sparse, with white walls. The workshop was at the back of the shop and out of sight. There was seating available for waiting customers, and one man was seated there. The owner came out right away and greeted us, and asked if we had called in for a quote. I confirmed that we had, went over our needs and he examined the device. He immediately noted a loose bracket where the right joy-con attached to the unit, and informed us that tightening that bracket would require opening up the unit. He also noted that the screen was still functioning, with just cracked glass on the display. Examining the Switch closer, he remarked that it appeared as though we had a screen protector on it, and lifted it up to demonstrate that only the tempered glass screen protector had cracked, with the original glass underneath completely intact, no repair needed! It had been so many years since we had bought the device that we had completely forgotten about this screen protector. The owner was very courteous, with a calm demeanor and patient manner of speaking. I am deeply appreciative of his kindness and honesty. It is truly wonderful to have a trustworthy repair business nearby, and we plan to come again for future screen repair needs. Location and Parking The business is located on Milwaukee Avenue at Red Top Plaza in Libertyville, an area where northern Vernon Hills and southern Libertyville meet up, south of the many car dealerships and across the street from Menards. UBreakIFix is a few units to the right of the Jewel-Osco anchor store, with plenty of free parking available.

I do not recommend getting a laptop or computer repaired at this company. I dropped my Lenovo laptop and took it in for repairs. They told me they would call me later that day or the next. By halfway through the second day, I called them for an update. They said they were working on it. Three hours later, I called again, and they gave me the same answer. This time, they mentioned they were preparing a quote for the repair because the motherboard was damaged and it would cost $750. They explained that they would need to send it out to a specialty shop. However, they assured me they could back up my data, which I requested, and they did manage to do that. When I went to pick up the laptop, I noticed a plastic bag taped to it containing some hardware. I asked what it was, and they informed me it was the SSD (the new type of hard drive) from which they had retrieved my data. They did not reinstall it in the laptop, which I found puzzling, as I intended to take it to a locally owned computer repair shop for a second opinion. Having never opened a computer before, I thought, "What do I have to lose?" So I opened it up and found the connection point to reinstall the SSD. I had to go and buy a small screw to secure it, which they did not return with the SSD. To my surprise, when I turned on the laptop, it worked perfectly! I am not sure what they were doing for three days, other than backing up my data. Honestly, the store name should be changed to "We Break It, You Pay Us, and You Fix It."
