Took 14 business days to get my computer back and after using it for four hours it is now displaying a “needs repair” message when turning on. Lol. I’m not comfortable taking it back to them honestly. Two stars feels generous bc my computer is still broken, but the manager was genuinely accomodating and worked with our budget.

I came in with a custom gaming pc (with relatively old components) that was having trouble with random shutoffs and eventually no boot at all. I had done some troubleshooting myself with RAM, GPU, light dusting, and replugging wires with no change in condition. Decided it was worth it to take it to TECH2U since I had heard about a free diagnostic which I found out was just a 15 min in person testing which is more than reasonable but not enough time to figure out my issue. Started a work order that took ~1-2 weeks for them to actually start in my build to which they called me after to tell me that my PSU, GPU and RAM were all not functional. I had 2 options, either have them rebuild my PC with a $249 labor fee (not including replacement parts) or take it back for $99 and fix it myself. I chose my own rebuild because the $249 was a bit steep for myself. I called in to let them know and they said it would take 1-3 days to get it ready for pickup and 1 week later I hadnt heard from them so I called to check if it was ready to which they said it was. I came in the next day and it was pretty much mostly taken apart so I had to wait an extra 30 minutes for them to get it ready but overally not too bad. Took it home and just tested a new PSU since I was sort of skeptical about the GPU and RAM having issues (I tested them before bringing it into TECH2U). To my surprise and relief my PC is up and running with just a new PSU! Customer service was decent. Everyone I spoke to was very respectful and kind. However, long wait times and misleading information given to me drops them down to a 3 for me. I understand my issue was very complicated but it felt a little inconvenient. If you are willing to wait a 1-3 weeks I do reccomend coming here!

WHERE TO START....called the company number and was redirected to go back and forth with 3 different remote technicians (Eric, Dimitri, and Tony). For 2 days they troubleshoot my laptop and at first, reeled me in with the "15-minute fix" (note: went on their website NOWHERE did it state "15-minute fix") for $99 and if they couldn't fix it in those "15 min" charged me another $130 following up with negative results, then the remote tech dimitri wanted me to come in person to drop off my laptop since they couldn't "fix" it, most likely to charge me another $200+ if not more to drop in their greedy pockets and quote me for services and parts I most likely don't even need to pay for. There isn't even any listing of rates/prices for services rendered on their website so how can I or any customer be sure of these "FLAT RATES" they are charging us for, which is very questionable cause at this point they might as well throw any dollar amount at you and say to each customer they come into contact with that "this is our fee". But I guess that's what THIS "repair shop" does, just bide their time to make it seem like they are making progress just to charge you MORE and MORE PLUS, I didn't receive any INVOICES/RECEIPTS for "services rendered", even though I gave Dimitri and Eric my email over the phone for the 2 times I was charged. SHAMELESS & DISHONEST! You can't trust anyone to do an honest job here in SD, let alone give you results at a fair and posted price. It's already hard enough to have enough money to buy food in this period of inflation, especially in this city, now I'm short $229 with a laptop that still isn't fixed. Thanks for taking advantage of this disabled veteran! P.S. I understand the meaning of multi-tasking and heavy workload, but why do these remote service techs help more than 1 customer at a time? One would think they would give a single customer their undivided attention. Seems to me they are more concerned about getting your credit/debit card info than anything else let alone helping you. Dealt with a lot of dishonest people in my time, BUT this is a new low, even for me.

I really like this establishment. They give some great advice for DIY projects on computer help. Easy to talk with. Very knowledgeable crew. Will take my computer gadgets there. Pretty reasonable prices too.
